emo music doesn’t usually make me feel particularly emotional, but this bite-size ep is a very notable exception. lyrically, i don’t find it particularly special, but the instrumental does an extremely good job of complimenting the lyrics and creating a thoroughly emotional experience.
- sam rudich: i don’t really get the deal with sam rudich. it’s definitely good, but clearly the worst song on the ep to me. it has a nice autumnal feeling. 7/10
- important thing (specter magic): this is probably in my top 3 snowing songs. it has some really wonderful lyrics (whyyyy can’t iiiii see the sunspots in your eeeyyyeessss??!!!) and is just very intense and good. i think this would be a great song to show to someone who wants to know more about what emo is. 10/10
- kirk cameron crowe: i always forget about this song but it’s really good. a little over halfway through the song the mix randomly changes which is weird but it doesn’t take away from the experience of the song. i love the super fast lead guitar riff. when i’m smiling cuz there’s snowing falling outside :] 8/10
- methuselah rookie card: this song has an AMAZING hook, and the accompanying lyrics (i’ve been driving this thing for too long / i’ve been living like a sailor, my sea legs are wearing down) are some of my favourite snowing lyrics. the outro feels like budget so i shotgunned a beer and went to bed a little bit but it’s still extremely good and fun to listen to. it sort of feels like being on a boat. 9/10
a great ep for the leaves changing and the days getting shorter.
